Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on May 7, 2026. This markup no longer changes how your page looks in Google Search.

Put the block on the page that shows these questions and answers. Every answer in the markup must be visible on that page.

Check what assistants find about your business

FAQ schema is a FAQPage JSON-LD block that lists the questions and answers on a page. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on May 7, 2026, so the markup no longer changes how your listing looks there. It still gives other search engines and AI assistants a labelled copy of each answer. This free generator writes and checks it.

How this works

Copy the questions from the page
Each question and answer in the markup must also be visible on the page, word for word. Leave out questions that exist only in the markup. A row with a question and no answer, or an answer and no question, is marked and left out.
What changed at Google
In August 2023 Google said it would show FAQ rich results only for well known government and health websites. On May 7, 2026 it stopped showing them for every site, and in June 2026 it removed the FAQ documentation from Search Central. The changelog entry is linked under the checklist.
Why the markup can still help
A FAQPage block hands any crawler the questions and answers as separate, labelled fields. Search engines and AI assistants that read structured data can take an answer from it without guessing where the answer starts and ends. None of them promises to use it, so the visible text on the page matters more.
Check the result
The checklist uses the structure Google documented before the removal: a list of questions, each with a name and an accepted answer that has text. Our schema markup validator and the Schema.org validator still check it.

Questions about FAQ schema

No. Google stopped showing FAQ rich results on May 7, 2026, for every site, and removed the documentation in June 2026. Before that, from 2023, they appeared only for well known government and health websites.

There is no need to. When Google limited FAQ results in 2023, it said that unused structured data causes no problems for Search. Keep the markup if the answers are on the page and correct, because other search engines and AI assistants can still read it. Remove it if it describes questions the page no longer shows.

Some crawlers read structured data, and a FAQPage block gives them each answer as a clean, separate field. No assistant publishes a promise to use it. Clear answers in the visible text help people and crawlers alike, so write those first and add the markup as a copy.

Up to 50 here. Mark up the questions the page actually answers, in the same order and wording.
