LinkedIn text formatter

Use this LinkedIn text formatter to style words, build lists and preserve mentions. Undo edits, compare desktop and mobile previews, then copy styled or plain text.

Free, no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent.

Your post

Select words and choose a style, or select lines and choose a list. Plain text with nothing selected clears every style.

0 of 3,000 characters

Checked 12 October 2026. LinkedIn help says: “The character limit for a post is 3,000 characters.”

Typing @name here does not create a linked mention. Choose the person or page in LinkedIn after pasting. Hashtags and URLs stay plain by default.

Preview

Write or paste your post to see the preview here.

0 UTF-16 units, 0 Unicode code points, 0 visible characters, 0 line breaks. The target uses UTF-16 units. Platform counting algorithms are not published; confirm the pasted result in the app.

Select words for bold, italic, underline, strikethrough or monospace, and turn selected lines into lists. Undo formatting or typing without losing your selection. Compare desktop and mobile previews against a 3,000 character budget, with hashtag, mention and link protection. Styled Unicode can confuse screen readers; a separate plain copy keeps the words readable.

How to use this tool

Write and select
Type or paste your post, select the words to style and press Bold, Italic or Bold italic. Plain turns the selection back into normal letters, or the whole post when nothing is selected. The list buttons add a bullet or a number to each selected line.
Watch the limit
LinkedIn allows 3,000 characters in a post. Its Unicode counting algorithm is not published in the checked help page. The local budget counts UTF-16 units and also shows code points and visible characters. Confirm the pasted result in LinkedIn.
Copy and read it once more
The preview shows preserved line breaks at desktop and mobile widths, with an illustrative see more cut. LinkedIn does not publish a fixed cut. Copy the text, paste it into LinkedIn and read it there before posting, since each device draws styled letters with its own fonts.

Questions before you start

Styled letters are separate Unicode characters drawn by each device’s own fonts, so their shape changes from phone to phone. A few older systems show empty boxes. Plain text always displays, which is one more reason to style only a few words.

Not very. Screen readers can announce each styled letter as a mathematical symbol or skip it, and search may not match styled words to plain ones. Keep names, job titles and keywords plain and use styling for short emphasis only.

No. Everything happens in your browser. The tool does not connect to LinkedIn, store your post or call an AI model. Close the page and the text is gone unless you copied it.
