ROI calculator

Use this ROI calculator for total and annualized return, net gain or a target ROI. Solve required gain or investment and compare return sensitivity.

Free, no sign-up. Your entries stay in your browser.

ROI divides net gain by initial investment and multiplies by 100. Enter final value or net gain, solve required gain for a target return, or find investment from final value and ROI. Add a period for compound annualized return. Sensitivity scenarios keep investment fixed and do not predict future performance.

Your numbers

Currency changes formatting only. It does not convert amounts.

Enter amounts up to 1 trillion. Use your language’s decimal and grouping separators. Empty and invalid fields do not become zero.

Your result

Enter valid numbers to see the result. Costs and final values must be non-negative. Investment must be positive; annualisation needs a positive period; target margin must be below 100%. For break-even, price must exceed variable cost. Values that exceed the calculation limit need smaller inputs.

How to use this tool

Enter investment and final value
Final value includes original capital. Net gain excludes that capital. Required gain = investment × target ROI / 100. Investment = final value / (1 + ROI / 100). A return of minus 100 percent cannot identify a unique investment.
Read the annualised rate
Leave the period blank for total ROI only. Annualized ROI = ((final value / investment) raised to (1 / years) minus 1) × 100. Choose years, months or days, with 365 days per year. It assumes one initial and one final value, without intermediate cash flows. Short periods can produce extreme rates; unavailable annualization leaves the total result visible.
Model a marketing campaign
Revenue = leads × conversion / 100 × average order value. Gross profit = revenue × gross margin / 100. Campaign ROI = (gross profit minus spend) / spend × 100. The model assumes one order per converted lead, full attribution and no other campaign costs.

Calculation method and assumptions

Questions before you start

In investment mode enter total final value, including capital. Profit is calculated by subtracting the initial investment. Marketing mode uses gross profit from orders as the value returned by the campaign.

It uses a constant compound rate between one initial amount and one final amount. It ignores intermediate deposits, withdrawals, omitted fees and timing of orders. A total loss gives minus 100 percent. Include all relevant costs in your investment figure.

No. ROAS divides attributed revenue by advertising spend. This model first applies your gross margin to revenue, then subtracts spend before dividing by spend. Attribution and conversion rates are your assumptions.
