AI Mode

AI Mode is Google’s AI powered search experience for questions that benefit from exploration, reasoning or comparisons. It can answer with supporting website links and accept follow-up questions. Google explains that it may run several related searches to develop an answer. Its results can differ from AI Overviews for the same initial query.

Why it matters for a business

A customer can refine a buying decision across several questions instead of issuing independent keyword searches. A business page should explain who a service suits, where it is available and its practical limits, so that follow-up comparisons have clear facts to work with.

Example and evidence

An illustrative buyer asks for an accountant, then adds a location and a requirement for ecommerce experience. The second question has a narrower meaning. The Index’s fixed questions are useful measurement controls, but they do not reproduce a full AI Mode conversation.

What to do next

Cover the decisions customers actually need to make. Connect service pages with relevant explanations rather than repeating the same keyword. Check Google indexing and snippet controls. Test relevant follow-ups manually when assessing your own Google search experience.

Common question

It may not. Google says these features can use different models and techniques. Their responses and supporting links can therefore vary. A position observed in one feature should not be reported as a position in the other.
