Cost per acquisition is total campaign cost divided by conversions. Spend of 2,000 plus 500 for design and tools, with 50 sales, gives a CPA of 50. At a target CPA of 25, the same 2,500 has to bring 100 conversions. A conversion is the action you count, such as a sale, booking or sign-up.

How to use this tool

Count the full cost
Total cost = ad spend + other campaign costs such as design, tools or agency fees. Leave the other costs at zero to match the cost per conversion that ad platforms report.
Divide by conversions
CPA = total cost / conversions, the way Google Ads Help calculates average CPA. Count one kind of action consistently, for example a sale, a booking or a form sent.
Plan from a target
Conversions needed = total cost / target CPA, rounded up. Budget for a goal = goal × CPA, shown at your current CPA and at the target. Both assume the cost per conversion stays level as spend grows; check it after each budget change.

Questions before you start

CPA counts every conversion you choose to track, including repeat buyers and sign-ups that never pay. Customer acquisition cost divides all marketing and sales spend by new paying customers only. Use the CAC calculator for that view.

One below the gross profit a conversion brings. If a sale leaves 60 after product costs, a CPA of 50 keeps 10, and a CPA of 70 loses money on the first order unless the customer buys again.
