What this means
Each click costs $1.50 on average. With a 5.00% conversion rate, a target CPA of $40 allows up to $2 per click.
Next step
Clicks cost $0.50 less than the maximum, so there is room to bid for more volume. Check the CPA after each change. Work out the cost per acquisition

Cost per click is ad spend divided by clicks. Spending 600 on 400 clicks gives an average CPC of 1.50. The maximum CPC you can afford is your target cost per acquisition times your conversion rate: a target of 40 at a 5% conversion rate allows up to 2.00 per click.
How to use this tool
- Average cost per click
- CPC = ad spend / clicks, the average cost per click as Google Ads Help defines it. Use spend and clicks from the same campaign and date range. Fees paid outside the ad account stay out unless you add them to spend.
- Maximum CPC from a target CPA
- Maximum CPC = target CPA × conversion rate / 100. A click is worth at most what a conversion is worth to you, times the share of clicks that convert. Bidding above it pushes the cost per acquisition past the target while the conversion rate holds.
- CPA at the current CPC
- CPA = CPC / conversion rate × 100. It shows what each conversion costs at the current click price, so you can compare it with the target before you change bids.
