Small text generator

This small text generator turns what you type into small capitals, superscript and subscript, and into Discord subtext. Each result names the letters it had to leave full size.

Free, no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent.

Your text

Letters A to Z change where Unicode has a small form, and superscript and subscript change numbers too. Emoji, punctuation and other alphabets stay as they are.

Results

Type some text to see it in every style.

Type once and copy small capitals, superscript, subscript or a Discord subtext line. Small capitals have no x, superscript skips q and subscript covers only 17 letters, so each result lists the letters it left full size. Counts show UTF-16 length and the X total. Screen readers may misread these letters, so keep important words plain.

How to use this tool

Type and copy
Every result updates as you type and has its own copy button. Small capitals sit on the line at lowercase height, superscript floats above it and subscript drops below it.
Read the missing letters
Unicode never encoded a full small alphabet. Small capitals use ǫ, a look-alike, for q and have no x. Superscript here has no q and only some capitals, and subscript has 17 lowercase letters and no capitals. The note under each result lists the letters from your text that stayed full size.
Use subtext in Discord
Discord has real small text: a message line that starts with -# shows as subtext. The Discord result adds that prefix to each line. Anywhere else, the -# stays visible as typed.

Questions before you start

Small capitals are capital letter shapes at lowercase height, sitting on the line. Superscript letters are smaller and raised above the line, like the 2 in m². Both are separate Unicode characters, so the small shape travels with the text when you paste it.

Unicode encoded only the small letters that phonetics and maths needed. There is no small capital x and no subscript b, c, d, f, g, q, w, y or z, so the generator leaves those letters as typed. The one swap is q in small capitals, which uses the look-alike ǫ.

No. Instagram, TikTok, X and Discord usernames take plain letters, numbers and a few symbols only. Small letters can go in a bio, a post or a display name where the app accepts them, so paste and check before saving.

Not reliably. Small capitals and raised letters are separate phonetic characters, so a screen reader may spell them out or skip them. Discord subtext keeps plain letters, so the words stay the same. Keep names and important details in plain text.
