Website authority checker

Use this website authority checker for an AIGROW score based on public Common Crawl link ranks. Review its limits before comparing domains.

This snapshot uses Common Crawl only. No live crawl or AI calls.

Enter a domain or a URL. We check the main domain, including for subdomains.

The free Website Authority Checker estimates a domain’s relative strength from public Common Crawl link-graph ranks. It returns our own AIGROW Authority Score, from 0 to 100, with the source rank and edition. This estimate does not predict search rankings or whether an AI assistant will recommend your business.

How the authority estimate works

Public data, stored locally
This tool uses Common Crawl harmonic centrality ranks, a measure of connectivity in the observed link graph. Full graph coverage gives every domain in that crawl an exact rank. If that snapshot is unavailable, the checker uses its smaller top two million lookup. The result identifies the coverage used. Tranco is not included.
Registrable domains
We check the registrable domain, using the public suffix list. A URL such as shop.example.co.uk/page is checked as example.co.uk. Paths and subdomains do not get separate scores. A site on a platform address, such as name.github.io or shop.myshopify.com, gets no score, because the graph counts the whole platform as one domain. The lookup does not visit your website.
A score you can reproduce
The Common Crawl rank is scaled logarithmically against the number of domains in the whole graph: rank one scores 100 and the last domain would score 0. The score is rounded to a whole number. Compare scores from the same source edition.
Outside the stored range
The smaller lookup shows an upper bound for a domain outside its stored ranks. With full coverage, a domain absent from the graph has no score. Neither case proves it has no backlinks. Samples use verified ranks from the full graph but cover only some domains. The result shows the edition and coverage.

Source score formula: 100 * (1 - ln(rank) / ln(domains in the graph))

About this authority checker

If you searched for a domain authority checker or a DR checker, the distinction matters: Domain Authority is Moz’s metric and Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs’ metric. This tool returns only the AIGROW Authority Score, using a different dataset and formula. The scores are not interchangeable.

It summarizes the rank found in our public-data lookup. Common Crawl harmonic centrality reflects a domain’s connectivity through direct and indirect links in its crawled graph. The score does not measure content quality, count all backlinks, or estimate visits.

A domain can be absent from the available snapshot. When only the top two million lookup is available, smaller sites may receive an upper bound. Full coverage returns a score for every domain in the crawl. Shared-platform sites such as name.github.io cannot receive a separate score because the graph groups them into the platform domain.

No. The score does not test an AI assistant or measure mentions. Run the free AI visibility scan to see how your business appears in the answers it checks. Neither a score nor a scan can guarantee a future recommendation or search ranking.

The result shows the Common Crawl release used by the stored snapshot. It is not a live backlink crawl. Checking is free, with no email or account required, and limited to ten requests per hour per visitor address. No paid data service or AI model is called by this checker.
