llms.txt
llms.txt is a community proposal for a Markdown file that introduces a website and points language-model tools to useful content. It is usually published at the domain root. It is separate from robots.txt access rules and a sitemap’s discovery list. Publishing a valid file does not establish that any assistant reads or uses it.
Why it matters for a business
A curated introduction can make a documentation site easier for a tool to navigate when that tool supports the format. Business owners should treat it as an optional publishing aid and keep their main service information usable without it.
Example and evidence
AIGROW’s llms.txt generator drafts a file from existing website metadata and selected pages. Its validator checks format and links. Passing those checks proves properties of the file, not an improvement in assistant recommendations.

What to do next
Choose a few useful, current pages and describe them accurately. Publish the file only if you can maintain it. Check its links after site changes. Prioritize crawl access, visible facts and customer questions before spending time on an optional introduction file.
