Zero click search

A zero click search is a search in which the user does not click through to an external website. The user may get enough information from a result, refine the query or stop searching. AI answers can contribute to this behavior, but maps, direct answers and other search features can also satisfy a query without a website visit.

Why it matters for a business

A business may be discovered without receiving a measurable website session. A customer can call, remember a name or look it up later. Website traffic therefore measures a different stage from visibility in an answer, and neither metric alone establishes a sale.

Example and evidence

The AIGROW Index records names in assistant answers. It does not observe what a user clicks or whether that person later contacts a business. An Index mention is therefore visibility evidence, not a measurement of zero click conversion or lost traffic.

What to do next

Make contact details and service descriptions accurate across your public pages and listings. Track qualified enquiries and ask customers how they found you where appropriate. Keep search impressions, website visits and sales as separate measures.

Common question

No. A user may call from a listing, remember a brand or return later. Another user may leave without choosing anyone. You need enquiry or sales evidence to understand the outcome for your business.
