Lesson 7 of 7

Measure progress without chasing one answer

Compare consistent checks alongside real enquiries.

Repeat the same set of questions with the same assistants, language, location and search settings. Keep the date and complete answers. Record whether you were named, whether the description was accurate and which sources were linked. Compare like with like and keep failed requests separate from answers that did not name you.

Also record real enquiries or bookings that customers say came through an assistant. Make one factual improvement at a time and note when it went live. A change in mentions does not establish what caused it: assistants, sources and questions can change too. The Index is a public benchmark, while a saved scan is a snapshot of your own business. Paid monitoring is optional if repeating checks manually becomes a burden.

A real example from the Index

The October 2026 London wedding photographer page reports agreement and repeated-answer stability separately. Assistants can disagree and repeated tests can vary. Keep a question sheet to track that variation. This page alone cannot establish a change since the previous month.
