How AI assistants recommend driving schools
A learner or a parent who asks an AI assistant for a driving school gets a few names, and a different few from the next assistant. Here is what they answered in every city the AIGROW Index asked, and what a school can work on.
- Cities asked
- 88
- Names in the rankings
- 838
- Businesses named per city
- 25
- Names repeated on a rerun
- 47%
- Answers that name the leader
- 46%
The first two rows are counts; the rows under them are medians over the ranked pages. Every question was asked without a location or a chat history.
Asked for a driving school in 88 cities, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini named about 25 schools per city, and 56% of those names came up only once. Each assistant builds its list from what is published about a school. What a school controls is that public record: its courses, its prices and its listings.
What a customer asked, and who came first
One place of the 88, as an example: New York. Every place was asked the same questions in its own language, and its page in the Index has the full ranking.
- What is the best driving school in New York?
- My son wants to get his driver's license in New York. Which driving school would you recommend?
- Which driving school in New York offers intensive courses?
- Which driving school in New York is good for nervous beginners?
- Drive Rite Academynamed in 47% of the answers
- Confident Driving Schoolnamed in 42% of the answers
- Pierre Paul Driving Schoolnamed in 36% of the answers

What an owner can work on
No one can promise a place in an assistant’s answer. What an owner controls is what is published about the business, and these are the parts the questions above point to.
Name your courses
The questions ask for intensive courses and for lessons for nervous beginners. If you offer these, give each a page that says how it works and how long it takes.
Prices and pass rates in public
Published prices per lesson or package, and your pass rate if you track it, are facts a parent compares and an assistant can repeat.
Reviews from learners
A review that says a nervous learner passed first time describes the school in the words the next learner asks with. Ask for reviews after the test, and answer each one.
Every ranking for this trade
The AIGROW Index publishes the ranking of each place with every answer, and how it was measured.
