How AI assistants recommend moving companies
Someone who asks an AI assistant for movers gets a few company names, and a different few from the next assistant. Here is what they answered in every city the AIGROW Index asked, and what a moving company can work on.
- Cities asked
- 88
- Names in the rankings
- 1,160
- Businesses named per city
- 42
- Names repeated on a rerun
- 42%
- Answers that name the leader
- 54%
The first two rows are counts; the rows under them are medians over the ranked pages. Every question was asked without a location or a chat history.
Asked for a moving company in 88 cities, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini named about 42 companies per city, and 60% of those names came up only once. Each assistant builds its list from what is published about a company. What a company controls is that public record: its moves, its prices and its listings.
What a customer asked, and who came first
One place of the 88, as an example: New York. Every place was asked the same questions in its own language, and its page in the Index has the full ranking.

- I'm moving to a new apartment in New York. Which movers would you recommend?
- Which moving company in New York is reliable and affordable?
- We need to move our office in New York. Which movers should we call?

What an owner can work on
No one can promise a place in an assistant’s answer. What an owner controls is what is published about the business, and these are the parts the questions above point to.
Homes and offices apart
The questions ask for a flat move and an office move. A page for each, with what is included, answers each question as it is asked.
Show that you are reliable
One question asked for movers who are reliable and affordable. Published prices or how a quote is made, your insurance, and reviews that mention them are facts an assistant can repeat.
One name everywhere
Keep the company name, phone number and area the same on your site, your profile and every directory, so every source describes the same business.
Every ranking for this trade
The AIGROW Index publishes the ranking of each place with every answer, and how it was measured.
