How AI assistants recommend accounting software
A small business that asks an AI assistant for accounting software gets a short list of products, and the list changes from country to country. Here is what the assistants answered in every country the AIGROW Index asked, and what a product can work on.
- Countries asked
- 20
- Names in the rankings
- 156
- Products named per country
- 12
- Names repeated on a rerun
- 84%
- Answers that name the leader
- 100%
The first two rows are counts; the rows under them are medians over the ranked pages. Every question was asked without a location or a chat history.
Asked for accounting software in 20 countries, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok named about 12 products per country, and 26% of those names came up only once. Each assistant builds its list from what is published about a product. What a vendor controls is that public record: its features, its pricing and its reviews.

What an owner can work on
No one can promise a place in an assistant’s answer. What an owner controls is what is published about the business, and these are the parts the questions above point to.
Say which country you fit
The leaders change from one country to the next, because tax rules and invoicing formats do. State on your site which countries you support and which local requirements you meet.
Answer the buyer’s situation
The questions come from a freelancer, a new company and an accountant advising clients. A page for each kind of buyer, saying what they get, matches those questions.
Prices and plans in public
Published plans and prices, kept current, and reviews on the comparison sites buyers read, give an assistant facts it can repeat about your product.
Every ranking for this trade
