How AI assistants recommend electricians
Someone who asks an AI assistant for an electrician gets a few names to call, sometimes energy companies rather than local trades. Here is what the assistants answered in every city the AIGROW Index asked, and what an electrician can work on.

The first two rows are counts; the rows under them are medians over the ranked pages. Every question was asked without a location or a chat history.
Asked for an electrician in 88 cities, ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini named about 35 businesses per city, and 56% of those names came up only once. Each assistant builds its list from what is published about a business. What an electrician controls is that public record: the jobs, the area covered and the listings.
What a customer asked, and who came first
One place of the 88, as an example: New York. Every place was asked the same questions in its own language, and its page in the Index has the full ranking.
- Who is the best electrician in New York?
- I need an electrician in New York to rewire an old apartment. Who would you recommend?
- The power went out in my house in New York. Which emergency electrician should I call?
- Which electrician in New York can install an EV charger at home?
- H&A Electricnamed in 53% of the answers
- Mister Sparkynamed in 44% of the answers
- Cooper Electricnamed in 25% of the answers
The names that recur
70 different businesses came first across 88 rankings, and 54 names were listed in three places or more. These are the most frequent.
- Enel X Way9 places
- ChargeGuru8 places
- Engie8 places
- Bravida7 places
- Depanneo7 places
- IZI by EDF7 places
Counted by spelling: two businesses with the same name in different places count as one.
What an owner can work on
No one can promise a place in an assistant’s answer. What an owner controls is what is published about the business, and these are the parts the questions above point to.
Name the jobs you take
The questions ask for rewiring an old flat, a power cut and an EV charger at home. A line for each job you do, with your area, tells an assistant which questions you answer.
Certifications in public
For a charger installation or a rewiring, the certification you hold is the fact a customer wants. List it the same way on your site and in every directory.
Say if you come out urgently
One question was a power cut at home. If you take urgent calls, state your hours and how to reach you in the same words everywhere you are listed.
Every ranking for this trade
The AIGROW Index publishes the ranking of each place with every answer, and how it was measured.
